2016 Dog Jog & Fido Fest Grand Marshal Named!
Congratulations to Ace, our 2016 Dog Jog & Fido Fest Grand Marshal! It was a tough competition but Ace was at the top of the votes to lead the 2016 event.

Here's the story that Ace's family shared with us: Ace was adopted from the ARL in June 2015. It was a rainy morning, and I decided to take my nephew to visit the animals. I had absolutely NO intentions of bringing home a dog. Let’s just say, I now believe in love at first sight. The minute we saw Ace, my heart knew I was bringing him home to be a part of my family FOREVER. Ace was a stray that was brought into the ARL. His hygiene was neglected, malnourished, had kennel cough, and was later diagnosed with a permanent ruptured ear drum. You would never know the struggles of his past. Since day one of adopting him, he has had a smile on his face and prance in his step!
Ace loves to take walks, ride in cars and cuddle with his mommy (me) and daddy (Nick). Ace is not too fond of squeaky toys, sharing the king size bed or being told no! Ace is special for so many reasons. I am a mental health therapist in the Des Moines area. Pictures and stories of Ace have brought joy, excitement and distraction from negative feelings to several adolescent clients. Ace is quite resilient and has reminded us to smile more than frown and love more than hate.
Several people have made the comment, “Ace is so lucky to have found a loving home.” The truth is, we are the lucky ones. We have been blessed with the most loving, precious and ADORABLE dog to show such unconditional love. Our lives are forever changed and Ace will always be “our first baby.”
