Pit Crew

Do you have a dog that is considered to be 50% or more American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, or American Bulldog? Then join the Pit Crew Club, a club dedicated to raising awareness for these fantastic dogs!

Reason for the club: American Pit Bull Terriers are perhaps the most misunderstood dog breed in the world. With proper training and responsible ownership, these dogs can be a lifelong companion to people of all ages, as is true with all breeds. The Animal Rescue League believes that a breed alone does not make a dog good or bad. It is our hope that through education, compassion, and understanding, pit bull terriers will soon be respected for the amazing animals that they truly are. Some have given them a bad reputation, now it is up to you to fix it.

Adopt from the ARL!

Any of these dogs (we call them Lov-A-Bulls) adopted from ARL since August 2010 is automatically registered with a 1 year free membership in this club, but good news - anyone can become a member for just a $15 annual fee! Members receive an exclusive ARL Pit Crew Club T-Shirt!

Ambass-A-Bulls

The Ambass-A-Bulls serve as the community outreach arm for the Pit Crew club. The Ambass-A-Bulls dogs and their people visit schools to talk to kids about bullying, stereotypes, and how to safely greet a dog of all breeds, visit nursing homes to provide animal-assisted therapy, visit schools to help kids improve their reading, participate in local parades and events for awareness, volunteer to work with the dogs in adoption, assist potential adopters with questions, work to change BSL, help dogs prepare for the CGC test, and MUCH more!

This elite group meets monthly at the ARL and the people proudly wear the signature Ambass-A-Bull t-shirts while their dogs wear their earned badges. To participate in this group, dogs must have received their CGC award (AKC Canine Good Citizen), be compliant with any ordinances in their city, and be spayed/neutered and microchipped. The humans may participate in the group prior to their dogs receiving their CGC award if they are actively working towards it (we’ll help!), align with the mission of the ARL and the Ambass-A-Bulls, and demonstrate responsible dog-owner qualities. People without Lov-A-Bulls may participate in the group, but space is limited for these seats.

Contact Stephanie for more information on how you can join the Ambass-A-Bulls at sfiler@arl-iowa.org.
