Paw It Forward at Animal Rescue League of Iowa
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) has had a higher-than-normal number of animals in its care over the past several months. With the help of the community’s involvement in the Paw It Forward program, 151 homeless animals at the ARL found new homes between Thursday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, Oct. 30.

Paw It Forward allowed ARL supporters to donate $25 to cover the adoption fee for one animal. A sign was then placed on the animal’s kennel letting potential adopters know the adoption fee was covered. The adoptive family could then spend the money they saved on supplies for their new furry family member, or could choose to Paw It Forward with a $25 donation to cover the adoption fee of another animal.

Of the 151 adoptions that happened during the event, 112 were covered by Paw It Forward donations. Many of the donors were supporters from all over the state who weren’t able to adopt at the time, or were just animal lovers that wanted to help these pets find homes.

ARL Executive Director ,Tom Colvin, said, “It’s incredible how one weekend can be life-changing for so many of our animals, but also life-changing for the families that welcomed a new pet into their home. That’s what we’re all about – changing lives.”
