Angel is a curious boy who likes to be into whatever you are doing. He would probably enjoy a climbing tree with some scratching poles so he can explore and have a place to hang out. He loves to chase toys, especially wands or any automatic toys with moving parts.
This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats.
This cat has also been diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder with an unknown cause. More information is on this cat's kennel at the ARL, but we'd also encourage you to consult your regular veterinarian if you have questions.
HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway program -- a program designed to give cats a vacation from the shelter and let them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. While vacation is fun, there really is no place like home, so please consider adopting one of these deserving cats! As part of this program, their adoption fee is just $50 each (or $75 for a pair)! To learn more about this cat or schedule a time to meet it, please contact Carol at firstname.lastname@example.org or Betsy at email@example.com.
