Full-Time Positions

Customer Experience Supervisor
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc. (ARL) is currently seeking a full time Customer Experience Supervisor. This position is responsible for training and supervision of the desk staff and volunteers at all of the ARL Adoptions locations. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in an animal shelter; supervisory and management experience, strong customer service background, have strong communication skills, responsible for money management, be efficient and able to multi task, be able to work well with others and be well organized and high energy. This supervisory position does include hands on working at the desk, with animals and typically works a Tuesday-Saturday schedule. Experience with Word and Outlook is necessary. Human Resources and Training Manager
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a full time Human Resources and Training Manager. The perfect candidate for this position should have 3+ years of experience in HR work and have additional background with coordinating and leading training programs; as well as experience with recruiting staff. The ideal candidate would have experience with doing payroll for 100+ employees as well. This position will be located at our Main office in Des Moines; and requires the person to be in the office Monday-Friday due to the nature of the work.

Qualified candidates should have earned a degree or certification relating to Human Resources. Years of practical experience will be considered in lieu of certification. Candidates should possess a high level of skill, be able to work independently in a fast paced environment, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, have knowledge of employment laws and regulations and HR best practices; be able to multi-task; have some background with accounting and payroll, have energy and positive attitude in recruiting other ARL team members.

NEW OPENING: Full-time Veterinary Surgical Technician/Assistant. NO WEEKENDS AND VERY COMPETITIVE PAY
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a veterinary technician to work in our surgical area full time. This position is perfect for a candidate who wants a great job, a career working with animals and weekends off! Qualified candidates should ideally be certified, but years of practical experience will be considered in lieu of certification. Candidates should possess a high level of skill, be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, possess keen attention to detail, be a quick learner and be able to work as part of a team. The ability to lift and carry animals up to 55 pounds is required. Prior animal shelter experience is a plus. Full-time Medical/Veterinary Technician

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a medical/veterinary technician to work in our medical area full time, including weekends. Qualified candidates should have animal handling and veterinary technician experience, be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team. Veterinary technician certification is a plus but not required. At least 1 year of directly related experience as a veterinary technician in shelter medicine, a spay/neuter clinic, a wellness clinic or a private veterinary practice is preferred. Animal handling and husbandry experience is highly desired. Candidates must possess a stable work history and be able to work well with internal staff and clients, as well as external clients.

Full-time Animal Control Officer
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking an experienced animal control officer to work at our Animal Care and Control Center in Des Moines full time (will include weekend day(s) to start). Qualified candidates should have experience, a high level of skill, be able to work independently in a fast paced environment, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work as a team. Prior animal handling experience is required, experience as an animal control officer is preferred. Must be able to meet physical demands of the position, being able to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Must be able to climb and balance. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must have a valid Iowa’s drivers license and good driving record.

Part-time Animal Care Technician
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a part-time Animal Care Technician. This position will include all shifts and weekends, averaging from 20-30 hours per week. The position is at the ARL Main location and must be willing/able to work with all types of animals. Internships

Part-Time Strategic Animal Programs Intern (Winter/Spring 2018-19)
Do you have an interest in working with people, the drive to make a difference in the Des Moines community, and a passion for animal welfare? The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as interns with our strategic animal programs team. Our interns would be exposed to all aspects of the ARL’s strategic animal programs, including Therapets, Community Outreach, Humane Education, and Animal Cruelty Intervention. The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented, flexible, proficient in Microsoft Office, and have the ability to work in a fast-pace environment. This position is unpaid and is a set 90 day minimum term with 8-16 hours each week. We are willing to work with academic advisors so students can receive credit for the internship. Part-time Marketing & Graphic Design Intern - 2019
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a highly motivated, creative individual to serve as a Graphic Design Intern for the Marketing team. Applicants should have strong graphic design skills for both print and web and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. The intern will be exposed to all facets of marketing for Iowa's largest non-profit animal shelter. This position is unpaid and is a set 90 day minimum term with 8-16 hours each week. Part-Time Special Events Intern
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) is seeking a highly motivated, organized individual to serve as a Special Events Intern. Applicants should be very detail-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. This position is unpaid and is a set 90 day minimum term with 8-16 hours each week. The intern will assist with special event projects and pre-event logistics, call on vendors, businesses, and event attendees when needed, procurement, and other projects depending on the intern’s desired outcome.
