Pet Food Pantry

The Pet Food Pantry is a program dedicated to helping pet families that are facing financial hardship. The pantry is mobile, with regular monthly stops at multiple locations across the Des Moines metro.

How It Works

  • Each household may visit the pantry up to 2 times per month
  • Patrons may pick up food for up to 2 households (including their own)
  • No appointment is needed; supplies are available while they last
  • Each household will receive the following:
    • Dogs: 1 gallon-size bag (approx. 4 lbs) per dog, up to 3 bags total
    • Cats: 1 quart-size bag (approx. 1 lb) per cat, up to 3 bags total
    • Litter: 1 container per household

When supplies allow, we do our best to supply pet food to the food pantries listed below:

The ARL has teamed up with Greater Good Charities to be an ambassador for their GOODS Program. Thanks to this partnership, we can bring more low-cost pet food and supplies to the Des Moines area, allowing us and the food pantries we work with to stretch our dollars further and impact even more pets and people.
