Mick recently marked his ten-year anniversary with the ARL! In his over 30 year career, Mick has had a wide variety of experiences with all types of animals, including serving as the Director of Animal Behavior and Training for the RSPCA Queensland, Australia, to serving as head avian keeper and trainer for a collection of 130 native and exotic birds at Sea World Australia Mick has lectured on animal behavior across five continents, In Afghanistan, his experiences handling and training bomb-detecting dogs changed him forever, crediting a couple of the dogs he worked with for his career today.

November is "Adopt a Senior Pet" month so Mick and Carol talked about the benefits of adopting senior pets and tips on getting them acclimated in their new home, including crate training. And, caller Bob highlighted the ARL's "Rent-a-Cat" trial adoption program as a low-stress way to ensure a good fit in a new home.

Carol talked about popular pet Halloween costumes and answered some listener questions about how to help a dog who reacts to doorbells and a cat who tries to get outside when the door is open, both potential issues when trick or treaters are out on Beggars Night. Carol and Mick also gave some tips on how to safeguard your pets while moving house, and how to deal with play-biting. Rats were the featured Halloween-themed animal.

They also recapped our recent Equine and Wine event, including Mick's demonstration of clicker training horses, and highlighted our Operation CatSnip TNR and Barn Cat adoption programs.
