BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS THROUGH POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
The ARL offers a variety of reasonably priced pet dog training classes for people and their dogs. All of our classes, from puppy basics to specialty classes, are offered on both weeknights and weekends. The ARL believes in teaching and rewarding your pet for desirable behavior and redirecting undesirable behaviors to appropriate ones. Having a dog should be fun! Training should be fun for you and your dog! The goal of our training program is to keep your canine companion in a loving home and help him become a well behaved canine citizen.
Our knowledgeable instructors use positive based training methods to help you train your dog and build a strong bond. All of our classes are taught using the clicker method. Our instructors regularly attend conferences and education programs to ensure that they provide the most up-to-date and humane training techniques available.
Class Requirements (general)
FEES - All classes are $90.00. Fees for classes are subject to change and NON-REFUNDABLE.
REGISTRATION - Register by clicking on the class dates you are interested in. You will be stepped through the online registration process. Payment will be through the online registration system. No registration will be considered confirmed without payment.
VET RECORDS - Please fax your dog's vet records to 515-266-4549 ATTN: Dog Training Classes. You may also email them to K9classes@arl-iowa.org ATTN: Dog Training Classes. Please have the owner's name, the dog's name and the class dates clearly identified. YOUR PET'S VACCINATION RECORDS NEED TO BE RECEIVED PRIOR TO CLASS START.
DOG POLICIES - Females currently "IN HEAT" (estrus day 1 - day 21) are not allowed in classes. If this becomes a concern, please contact the Training Department at K9classes@arl-iowa.org.
Dogs must be on leash and supervised at all times.
Owners must pick-up after their dogs.

- Urban Pet Hospital just south of 104th and Douglas in Urbandale
- Madison County Fairgrounds, 1208 West Summit St, Winterset, IA (behind skating rink)
The first week of Puppy Kindergarten, Adolescent Puppy and Good Manners is orientation only. Dogs do not attend the first week of class.
