---
- A goofy, playful lady who loves to be involved in everything you're doing; can be lazy at times and enjoys lounging next to you on the couch
- Will sit cutely with her paws folded like a proper lady
- Likes to roll around on her back to scratch it
- Is okay with being inside as long as there's somewhere warm to curl up and chill, but would also LOVE a fenced-in yard to run and play with her family
- Loves chew toys, bones, rope toys and KONGs with peanut butter; makes it her mission to remove the squeakers from stuffed toys
- Enjoys chasing water from the hose and sprinkler
- Generally good on a leash but occasionally pulls when she's interested in something
- Loves the car and will jump right in; prefers sitting up front with you
- Enjoys sleeping in bed with her people and is a total bed hog; will chase and bark at things in her dreams
- Has a good start on potty training and does best on a routine; will need some help from her family to get her 100% there
- Not a fan of crates and may do best with a designated "Sophie" area where she can be when her family is not home
- Hasn't met a person she hasn't immediately wanted to say hello to; can be a bit exuberant in her greetings so she may do best in a home where all family members are big enough to be OK with that
- Has gotten along well with multiple other dogs in her foster home; tends to be a rowdier player once she's comfortable, but she can also listen and respect other dogs when they tell her she's too much and can coexist with dogs who may not immediately want to wrestle (dog intro recommended)
- Has had multiple surgeries on both eyes to correct a condition known as "cherry eye" as well as fix some deformed cartilage in her eye area, and we have done what we can to improve her condition; she also has dry eye syndrome, a lifelong condition requiring medications several times a day and routine vet visits to monitor her eyes; currently she is doing well with an eye lubricant 3X/day and having her eyes rinsed with an eye wash after going outside (more info at ARL)
- Looking for a family who can provide the care she needs and the love she deserves - she is a lovely dog and so worth it!
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
