Pet Food Pantry

The Pet Food Pantry is a program dedicated to helping pet families that are facing financial hardship. The pantry is mobile, with regular monthly stops at multiple locations across the Des Moines metro.

How It Works

• Patrons may pick up food for up to 2 households (including their own)

• No appointment is needed; supplies are available while they last

• Each household will receive the following:

  • Dogs: 15lbs of dog food per household. 

  • Cats: 3lbs of cat food per household.

  • Litter: 1/2 gallon of litter per household.

The pantry operates weekly at various locations across Des Moines on a first-come, first-served basis. For the mobile pantry schedule, please visit our events calendar.

The ARL has teamed up with Greater Good Charities to be an ambassador for their GOODS Program. Thanks to this partnership, we can bring more low-cost pet food and supplies to the Des Moines area, allowing us and the food pantries we work with to stretch our dollars further and impact even more pets and people.
