Additional Details
- Handsome, calm, gentle cat
- Will lounge around most of the day and then come find you when it's time for his meal; if you're in the kitchen, he will soon be at your side asking for treats
- He becomes very affectionate when he's hungry, rubbing up on your legs and giving head butts when picked up. Just be careful when putting him back down to protect his paws. If his plate is on the ground, he has to lay down to eat, so he had an elevated food bowl at his foster home
- Loves wet food with broth or gravy!
- Prefers to sit on his own, and is not a huge lap cat, but will happily find a spot next to you. He's not quite a master biscuit maker because of his tender paws, but he gives it his best shot
- Enjoys ear and chin scratches and cheek rubs, but prefers not to have his tummy touched
- Wand toys are a favorite during play time, which usually occurs as he is laying down. Because he's not as mobile, play time and food management are very important so he doesn't gain weight and put strain on his paws
- Has done well with other cats, and may enjoy another FIV+ cat buddy in his new home
- Enjoys looking outside and will appreciate a window seat or soft cat bed placed in front of the windows in his new home
- This cat has had a history of having sore, ulcerated paws pads that did mostly resolve and respond well with medical treatment (more info. at ARL)
This cat has tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus. FIV attacks the immune system leaving a cat vulnerable to recurrent infections. There currently is no cure for FIV, but infected cats can live fairly normal lives for years. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds. Casual contact such as sharing food/water bowls, mutual grooming, etc. is unlikely to spread FIV. However, we recommend that this cat be an only cat or live with other FIV+ cats. More info is on this cat's kennel, but if you have questions, please consult your regular veterinarian before adoption.
All adoptable cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP as appropriate for their age)
