Additional Details

- A huge cuddler, loves to lay in his people's laps and get lots of attention

- Enjoys sleeping in bed with his people

- Total goofball who loves toys and being silly; prefers soft toys, especially ones with squeakers

- Tends to be pretty lazy, but would also love having a yard to run around in

- Smart boy who knows sit and appears to be potty trained - just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new routine

- Loves people and activity and likes to be at the center of whatever's going on

- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness; tends to bark at other dogs he passes on walks

- Has done well in the car with a seatbelt leash; likes to nap in the car

- Appears to be potty trained, but is used to going outside frequently every few hours and may not be able to hold it for longer periods of time yet; will benefit from some more work on potty training with his new family

- Will sit by the door to show you when he's ready to go outside, whether it's to go potty or just play

- More comfortable around small groups of people; gets stressed in crowds

- Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs and can be a linebacker-type player, which some dogs may not appreciate; will likely do best with a select group of rough-and-tumble dog friends with a similar play style (dog intro recommended)

- Can have a hard time containing his energy when he's excited, so may do best in a home where everyone is big enough to handle his energy

This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.

All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)

The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
