Due to the weather forecast of freezing rain and ice for Tuesday, Feb 20, Humane Lobby Day has been cancelled.
While we won't be gathering at the capitol to talk to our legislators about better animal welfare laws for the people and pets of Iowa, there's still plenty you can do to help! If you haven't already, sign up for our ARL Humane Action Network email list to get updates and action alerts on specific issues. Speak to your legislator at weekend legislative forums in your communities, and call or email them to let them know you're a constituent and that protecting Iowa's animals is an important issue for you. Join other Iowans concerned about animal welfare for a day of advocating your state legislators for improved animal protection laws for Iowa's animals!
The Iowa legislature is in session, so now is a great opportunity to talk to your representatives and let them know you want them to improve Iowa's animal welfare laws. Iowa currently ranks 49th in the nation for the effectiveness of our animal protection laws. We need to do better, and you can help!
RSVP and join us at the Iowa State capitol on Tuesday, Feb. 20 anytime between 10 a.m.-2 p.m that is convenient for you. We'll be there to help you through the process with tips, talking points, and other resources.
