Join us to have your horse blankets washed and an open ride in the arena! 

For just a small fee, you can drop off your horse blankets and pads to the ARL Second Chance Ranch to have them washed and dried (if preferred) AND you will be supporting homeless pets. While you wait you can shop at the 2nd Hand Tack Shop or bring your horse for a chance to ride in our indoor arena. If you don't want to stick around, you can pick up your items two days after you drop them off. 

Tickets

Tickets are available for June 15th and June 17th. 

• Blanket wash: $10 per blanket
• Pad wash: $5 per pad 
• Open Ride in the Arena : $10 per rider
  • You must bring your own horse to participate in the open ride. 

Walk-ins are available based on availability. Preregistration is highly encouraged. 

Blanket and Pad Wash

Blankets and pads can be dropped off between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. and must be picked up by June 19th. You can bring up to 15 blankets to be washed. For quantities over 15, please contact Carrie Spain at cspain@arl-iowa.org.

*Please make sure your name is on your blankets and pads. 

Donate

We are always in need of food and supplies for the barn animals in our care. While our needs change frequently, the items below are standard and are almost always needed. 

• Grass or alfalfa hay bales (small, good quality)
• Horse bedding (pine shavings; no cedar, please)
• Mineral and salt blocks
• Horse feed (Purina Strategy)
• Muck forks
• Chicken feed
• Pot-bellied pig food
• Muck buckets
• Horse halters (average to large size and miniature horse size)
• Lead ropes
• Stall fans (box fans)
