Every day our animal numbers are climbing. Kittens upon kittens. Litters of puppies. Animals who are injured and sick. But still the ARL is there to help pets and people in need.

When our Mobile Rescue Team received a call to help a family struggling to provide for a large number of sick cats and kittens that had multiplied in their home, we didn’t hesitate. We knew we had to help.

As our team entered the home yesterday, they were hit with ammonia so strong it burned their eyes and throats. Cats and kittens were everywhere, walking on a floor covered in feces. Even being in the home for a few minutes was difficult. We couldn’t imagine what it was like for these cats and kittens – let alone the people – living there day in and day out, especially when many clearly needed medical care. We quickly began loading them into clean carriers to get them help as soon as possible.

Because of your support we were able to answer the call to help these 46 cats and kittens, but the work is not over yet.

Our Miracle Medical Team was waiting to triage as soon as they arrived back from the two-hour drive. The kittens are the most critical. Many are thin, with eyes so infected they’re matted shut and upper respiratory infections so bad they sneeze constantly. All the cats and kittens were crawling with fleas and ear mites – particularly dangerous for kittens so small.

We’re extremely worried about one of the small kittens in the group who is very thin and sick. She is hanging in there for now and our veterinarians are keeping a close eye on her. Please donate today to help!

Thankfully someone advocated for the cats and the people in the home … or this situation could have been much worse.

At a time when our animal numbers are already so high, we desperately need your help to provide critical medical treatments and ongoing care for these kittens and cats. Your support today – whether one-time or monthly – will help these cats now and ensure we can continue to be there to answer the next call for help whenever it may come.
