Des Moines Man Charged with Animal Torture for Stabbing Family Dog to Death

(UPDATE 5/28/19): This horrific story is a sad reminder of the link between animal abuse and human abuse. Martell Dawayne Holloway-Simpson, 34, of Des Moines was found guilty by a jury of beating a woman so badly she had to be hospitalized and then torturing and stabbing a dog to death two days later. His sentencing for willful injury causing serious injury, domestic abuse assault, child endangerment and animal torture is set for July.

Martell Holloway Simpson Martell Holloway-Simpson has been charged with 1 count of animal torture for his alleged role in the brutal stabbing death of his family's dog early this morning in Des Moines.

He is currently in the Polk County jail. This is the 2nd horrific animal abuse case in the Metro this week and Iowa is the 2nd worst state in the country for punishments for animal offenses. Please join us in this fight to change this: www.arl-iowa.org/han
