When deputies responded to a medical call at a rural residence, they were shocked to also come across another level of suffering – dozens of sick cats living in extremely poor conditions alongside the residents.
Deputies contacted our Animal Welfare & Response Team, who hit the road in the early hours yesterday for the 2.5-hour drive across the state in the cold and snow to help these cats in crisis.
When our rescue team arrived at the dirty, dilapidated house, we found nearly all of the cats were suffering from serious upper respiratory infections and eye inflammation, and all of them were crawling with fleas and ear mites – likely caused by the living conditions and lack of vet care.
For most of the 27 cats, this life was all they’d ever known. Situations like these are incredibly heartbreaking for all involved, and sadly innocent animals are caught in the middle.
The cats are now under the care of our Miracle Medical Team and are finally receiving the help they need. It will take weeks to provide the ongoing care each cat requires, and that’s where they need you.
The resources required to care for large influxes of pets is incredibly draining, so please make an urgent gift today. Whether you make a one-time gift to help these cats right now or choose to give monthly to be there for these cats and so many more pets who will arrive in desperate need in the new year, you’ll be providing the hope and healing that these vulnerable animals deserve.
While we can’t change their past, YOU can change their future. Please give a gift of healing and hope to show these cats, and so many others, that better days are ahead.

P.S.: When you donate now or join our Loyal Friends Club monthly giving program, you’ll automatically be enrolled to receive updates on these cats. While our role in this case is to help the animals, local authorities are working to assist the people in this situation.
