Yesterday, in the middle of this bitter cold snap we’re all enduring, five vulnerable puppies arrived at our doors. They’d been found abandoned in a plastic tote, left by the side of the road in rural Iowa - where temperatures were in the single digits, with wind chills as low as 15 below zero.
Deputies contacted our Animal Welfare & Response Team, who hit the road in the early hours yesterday for the 2.5-hour drive across the state in the cold and snow to help these cats in crisis.
These pups were incredibly lucky to be found when they were. They are now safe, warm, and under the loving care of our Miracle Medical Team. But sadly they’re not alone. More animals are arriving every day.

No animal should suffer or die in these freezing temperatures. Your support can make a direct, lifesaving difference. Your donation today will help provide the care, warmth and second chances these animals deserve. And by giving monthly, you’ll ensure we’re ready to help the next animal in need, no matter how cold it gets.
Please make a gift today. In this extreme weather, your generosity will save lives.
