Welcome to the ARL's Pet Education Corner! This page has been created as a resource to provide you with lesson plans to teach humane education topics in your classroom.
The ARL Humane Education program is here to serve the community we live in by teaching the next generations about animals and how they should be treated with kindness. We understand that it is not always possible for us to come to you, but now you are able to download lesson plans below to cover these important topics. If you have suggestions for a topic that isn't listed below, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Cat Safety
Cats are one of the most common pets, so it's important that children know the proper ways to approach a cat, especially when meeting for the first time.

Community cats are an entire community's responsibility. Community members must understand and respect these cats, as well as manage their population.

Dog bite prevention is a topic of great importance for any age. Learning to approach and interact with dogs you do and do not know is an important step in staying safe.

Caring for a pet is a huge, and very rewarding, responsibility. While having a pet is lots of fun, it is also a lot of work!

Pet overpopulation is a community issue, not an individual issue. Understanding the importance of spaying/neutering pets is key to preventing the overpopulation of pets.

Wildlife
Fostering an appreciation and respect for wildlife helps to encourage the protection of these critters. When working with wildlife it's important to look, learn, and leave!
